Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) just announced that the U.S. Postal Service has raised $717,000 from its recent Healing PTSD semipostal stamp, and is giving those proceeds to VA to be invested into further PTSD research.
Included in the announcement is a link to various therapies that VA is using to help treat PTSD, such as talk therapy and medication. Since this month is PTSD Awareness month, it’s a good time to note that there are several ways you can get help if you’re a Veteran suffering from PTSD. Along with convenient ways to message your health provider, request a consult, and contact the Crisis Line, you can use the VetsApp community function to reach out to fellow Veterans around you Along with the announcement The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has set a deadline of May 5 for Veterans to file to receive their COVID-19-related stimulus check–that’s $1,200 per individual and $500 per dependent. This applies to Veterans who have not yet received their stimulus checks or who did not file a tax return in 2019. If this is you, head on over to the IRS Non-Filers website now and complete the form. You have until May 5 to get this in, so act quickly!
