Flu season is upon us, and while many veterans can escape the winter months with little more than a cold, others are less fortunate. But this year, there’s a convenient, new benefit many Veterans may not be aware of. As part of the VA MISSION Act of 2018, VA announced that veterans who are already enrolled in VA health care may seek urgent care at community urgent care and walk-in clinics, and up to a 14-day supply of medication from contracted urgent care centers without seeking prior VA authorization.
To be eligible, VA explains that veterans must:
- Be enrolled in the VA health care system
- AND Have received care through VA from either a VA or community provider within the past 24 months.
For more information on this benefit, visit VA’s Urgent Care website to find out if you’re eligible, and then search for a contracted urgent care center near you (search button is at the bottom of that page).
